Events calendar rules

The University of Helsinki events calendar provides information on events organised by the University of Helsinki or one of its units.

1. Calendar administration
The University of Helsinki events calendar is administered by the University’s digital communications team.

2. Events published on the calendar
The University of Helsinki events calendar provides information on events organised by the University of Helsinki or one of its units (faculties, departments, independent institutes, administrative units).

Information on events organised by scholarly societies or other associations are published when the theme is closely linked with research or academia, and when at least one of the following conditions is met:

  1. A University of Helsinki faculty, department or another unit is involved in organising the event.
  2. The event is held on University of Helsinki premises.
  3. The lecturer is from the University of Helsinki.

Lecture and seminar details published in course catalogues are published on the events calendar on the public website only when the event is targeted at the public. Internal events are published on the Flamma calendar.
 

The event announcements of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki, the associations operating under its auspices and other similar parties must be published on the Student Union’s events calendar at https://hyy.fi/en/calendar.

The administrators of the University’s events calendar reserve the right to decide, on a case-by-case basis, which events are added to the calendar. The administrators also reserve the right to edit the event announcements accepted to the calendar.

 

3. Entering information on to the calendar
Events entered using the ‘Suggest an event’ form in the events calendar on the University’s public website are published on both the public and the Flamma intranet calendars. Events entered in this way cannot be published on only one of the two calendars. Events categorized as "Student events" (Opiskelijatapahtumat) are also published on the front page of the Studies Service.

4. Verifying information
The University’s digital communications team verifies event details and enters the events suggested using the online form on to the events calendar three to five times per week.
No information on events that do not meet the criteria stated in item 2 will be published on the events calendar.

 

5. Link to the Yliopisto magazine events calendar
The editorial staff of the Yliopisto magazine compiles events to be published in the magazine, for example, on the basis of the events calendar on the University’s public website. The Yliopisto magazine’s events calendar does not contain information on events subject to an admission fee.
