Speaker: Bernt Wennberg Title: Kac models with Exclusion and Inclusion Abstract: Soon after the discovery of quantum physics and Bose-Einstein and Fermi-Dirac statistics, the Boltzmann equation was modified by Nordheim and by Uehling and Uhelenbec, so as to recover these distributions in equilibrium. A rigorous derivation of these models as a suitable limit of many particle Schrödinger equations has not yet been achieved. However, there are results that yield a spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation for Fermions starting from Kac-like models. The talk concerns one such model, partially inspired by Brioullin's idéas on quantum statistical distributions, which could also be generalized to include Boson like particles. It is ongoing work together with Eric Carlen.
