My atmospheric optics hobby began in late 1970's when Mr. Kari Kaila brought this into Finnish amateur astronomy field. I was the first leader of atmospheric optics section in Ursa, during 1983-1994. After that Mr. Jari Piikki form Juva, Eastern Finland have continued my duty. I have been the section leader of halo section a half year period in 1996.
Connection between atmospheric optics and astronomy is not very strange. Similar close connection is eg. in Netherlands and Germany.
What are these atmospheric optical phenomena? Rainbow is perhaps familiar for all, but in the atmosphere there are hundreds of other light and color phenomena. The topic is at least as facinating as the area outside Earth's atmosphere.
