Welcome!

This research group started its work during the fall of 2002. Our initial aim has been to study non-linear potential theory in variable exponent Sobolev spaces. Since this is uncharted territory with several interesting applications, for instance to differential equations, we have been able to make quite rapid progress, see our list of publications.

We feel that the area of variable exponent Lebesgue and Sobolev spaces still holds much promise for further research. We invite anyone interested in these issues to contact us for a more thorough discussion on our research. The members of the group would also be happy to supervise Bachelor's and Master's Theses on variable exponent spaces.

In 2010, we organized the first conference exclusively focused on variable exponent analysis, which gathered around 45 participants. See the conference web-page for more information.

New Function Spaces, PDE and Image Processing will be held in Oulu at June 2012.
