Heterogeneous nucleation of ice

An accurate description of clouds in climate models requires solid knowledge of their properties. Formation of ice clouds is not properly understood, as our understanding of heterogeneous nucleation of ice is not complete. Theoretical methods spanning different length scales are needed.

Molecular Dynamics simulation of heterogeneous nucleation of ice on a surface.
