Finnish Go Association

Old information

The Finnish Go Association is an active go organisation in Finland. There are clubs or regular meetings in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku, Lapinjärvi, Oulu and Jyväskylä. We have about 120 players participating tournaments and some more players who don't. There are almost twenty players of dan level, the strongest ones being 5 dan.

We organize several tournaments annually. The most important is the Finnish Championship in September and October. We used to have Helsinki Grand Prix tournament in every June. Those were the days. In 2001 we had Toyota European Go tour in Helsinki in June. We also have organized the Nordic Championship tournament when it was our turn (1989,-92,-95,-99, 2003). The smaller tournaments are Rabbity six at Tampere in January, Jaakko Munkki -tournament in March, Ladies Finnish Championship, Jyväskylä and Turku. Usually we also have a summer weekend camp in July.

Some (added 9.7.2000) decisions (in finnish) made by Finnish Go association.
