Note:
Phylogenetic position of so called “megalosaurs” is uncertain. These basal tetanurans have been often associated with spinosauroids (Smith, Makovicky, Hammer & Currie, 2007), but then again removed from that group. Here I have mainly followed Holtz (1998), by presenting a rather conservative view of basal Tetanurae.
My personal opinion is that megalosaurs are a paraphyletic basal group of Tetanurae and some of them are probably either basal avetheropods or basal spinosaurs.
