Note:
In their work Wu, Sues & Dong (1997) present a phylogenetic analysis of Crocodyliformes in which Protosuchia is a monophyletic taxon. The most interresting difference between this analysis and one done by Clark (1994) is the inclusion of Gobiosuchus Osmólska, 1972, to Protosuchia, and not as a basal Mesoeucrocodylian taxon (sensu Clark, 1994).
A recent phylogenetic analysis of Crocodyliformes again splits Protosuchia to a paraphyletic assemblage of basal Crocodyliformes. In this analysis, done by Pol & Norell (2004), Gobiosuchus and a clade formed by their new taxa Zosuchus, Sichuanosuchus and Shantungosuchus, from successive sister groups toward Mesoeucrocodylia.
