Managing a forest involves risks. Our estimates of the future don't often become reality. What is seen happened to some trees here in the picture - we try to mimic in our projections by adding ' some uncertainty of survival'  to our future estimates. In other words we may give a tree in our projection a probability of getting damaged by snow loads etc.
