i) SINGLE-TREE REMOTE
SENSING - STRS consists of
the tasks
- the 3D mapping of trees,
- the species recognition,
- the measurement of crown dimensions / foliage density and
- the estimation of the stem dimensions using allometry

My PhD-thesis was about photogrammetric STRS, here's the pdf by Silva
Fennica.
Currently I'm working with the co-use of images that give
a high sampling rate and spectral information with LiDAR
that I
characterize
by `the ease of 3D´ and 'full control of time-stamped photons'.
A
forest inventory
project applying STRS-methods that I developed.
Method development
within STRS:
- Monoplotting-principle
for semiautomatic tree positioning
- ADS40-SH2
line camera images for enhanced tree species recognition
- Using LiDAR to
measure scatterer-free volume in canopies to support
actual tree
detection ("No-tree volume" defines the "with-trees
volume")
- Full waveform LiDAR
features in species detection.
