Who am I?Jaakko Leino, temporary employee, PhD, adjunct professor, professor (acting), father, whatever. Other people may feel free to stick other labels to me, these are about enough for myself.Where am I?I work as professor of Finnish language at Åbo Akademi University, and as a daddy in Pappilanmäki, Kirkkonummi. I also spend time with my in-laws in Kuhmo, and try to spend my sunny summer days at a cottage in Kangasala. Nowadays, I have way too little time to spend in Lappland (notably here), but I work hard on that one too; in fact, I have managed so far to visit there too on a more or less regular basis. I'm also adjunct professor ("docent") of Finnish language at the University of Joensuu, at the University of Helsinki , and at Åbo Akademi University. What am I?As my true profession, I'm a school-goer. I have gone to different schools since 1978 (excluding kindergartens, etc.), although since January 2003 I'm temporarily engaged in other tasks. Since autumn 2006, however, I am also a student of education; why change the career, once you've found yours. My latest academic title is PhD, majoring in the Finnish language (obtained in 2003). There is more on this topic on my linguistics page. Why am I?Back home I'm a daddy and a family man (since 1994; doubly so since 1997). I've had hobbies, too, in my lifetime, but daddyhood and constant school-going have pretty much got the better of them. I do still have the time to walk outdoors with the dog (the one behind those links isn't mine, but these doggies get to represent the one in my family as well since they are the same breed and happen to live in the www), and I also make noises in a choir regularly. What do I look like?Roughly like this:
The picture may not be the most recent one, but it'll give you a faint idea at least. That's about it. If (for some obscure
reason) you want to know something more about me, contact me, e.g. via e-mail. If you want to know about
something different, you can go back to my main page to
see what else there is on this end of the web.
