• The Soul of the Net Home for the 60s Soul Music on the Net. Discographies, record reviews, audio files etc.
• Deep Soul Heaven The web site of John Ridley, one of the leading authorities on southern soul. Great site, numerous articles on obscure artists and lots of rare (and usually excellent) records available in mp3-format.
• Soul Express Online This is the web site of an excellent Finnish soul magazine. Lots of interviews and record reviews. Heikki Suosalo's Deep Soul colum is always worth reading.
• Soulful Detroit.com A web site dedicated to the 60s Detroit scene. The web site also includes a discussion board, which doesn't restrict itself to the Detroit perspective.
• The "B" Side - a celebration of the other side Red Kelly's web blog has lots of great articles on classic soul and r&b records and artists.
• Peter Dean's Blues and Soul Primer Short biographies of many of the most important R & B and Soul stars, bibliographies, record company histories, etc.
• Soulful Kinda Music The web site of a British soul magazine.
• Miss Funkyflyy's web pages These stylish pages concentrate on 70s-90s funk and soul artists; lots of great articles and interviews.
• The Soul Express Home page of a New England radio show; contains biographies of prominent soul artists, among other things.
• Dusties Homepage of a Soul and R&B radio show.
• Soul Source This Northern Soul site contains lots of rare 60s and 70s records in real audio.
• Soul City Limits This web site mostly deals with Northern Soul and Modern Soul. Lots of sound bytes from rare records.
• Solid Hit Soul Another Northern Soul site.
• David Nathan's R&B and Soul Website The web site of a well-known R&B journalist.
• Nobby's Soul on 45 r.p.m. This Japanese page contains discographies of (mostly very obscure) artists and labels.
• Soul Serenade Online The web site of an Irish soul magazine.
• Offbeat magazine The web site of the Offbeat magazine that specializes in New Orleans music. Although most of the older reviews, interviews and colums didn't survive the Katrina storm, the magazine provides valuable information on the current New Orleans music scene.
• Blues Bytes A monthly online magazine of blues CD reviews.
• Blues & Rhythm An excellent British blues magazine. Contains a listing of available back issues.
• Blue Highway One of the oldest web sites dedicated to blues.
• Blues World This site maintained by Joel Slotnikoff contains a lot of interesting blues-related material.
• Eric's Blues Dates Blues dates compiled by Eric LeBlanc.
• Hoy Hoy Website This site "promotes the music of the unsung heroes who rocked before 1954"; lots of sound bites from classic songs in real audio.
• BlueSlim A Japanese blues site owned by Hiroshi Takahashi.
• Tom Morgan's Jazz & Blues Lots of pre-war jazz and blues links.
• The Blues Bibliographic Database Görgen Antonsson's bibliography contains references to more than 10000 magazine articles.
• Black Gospel Blog The weblog of long-time gospel enthusiast Bob Marovich.
• Jim & Nikki's Harmonious page These pages are dedicated to R&B group harmony and black gospel quartets.
• Vocal Group Harmony Web Site Another excellent group harmony web site. Lots of wonderful early 50s vocal group recordings in real audio.
• Unca Marvy's R&B page Among other things, these pages contain several of Marv Goldberg's classic articles on various 50's R&B vocal groups.
• Red Saunders Foundation One of the premier sources on the history of the Chicago music scene in the 1950s.
• L.A. Vocal Groups 1945-1965 Steve Propes is one of the world's leading authorities on the West Coast vocal group and R&B scene.
• Wang Dang Dula! This Finnish web site mainly concentrates on the lesser-known cult artists of 1950s and 1960s r&b and rock'n'roll, and it includes numerous very detailed discographies and biographies.
• Doowop Nation, JammUpp & Interlude Era This site contains three webzines dealing with the forties and fifties vocal groups, R&B and pop music.
• Rockabilly Hall of Fame A large and informative web site dedicated to fifties rock'n'roll.
• History of Rock & Roll Too superficial to really work as a history, but there's still a lot of information on many of the essential 50's-60's artists and musical genres.
• Spectropop Lots of information on girl groups, producers, song writers and 1960s pop in general. The Spectropop discussion group is also highly recommended.
• Girl-Groups.Com Concentrates on early sixties girl groups.
• Cha Cha Charming "A journalistic tribute to girl-powered pop - past, present and future, and from all over the globe". Excellent!
• Tom Simon's Oldies Biographies Concise biographies of many 50s and 60s oldies artists.
• Latvis' Rockdata This is the place to go, if you're interested in contemporary Finnish rock music.
• The Fin-a-billy page Information on the current Finnish rockabilly scene; discographies and pictures of 50s rockabilly stars.
• Once I Waited for Someone: The Story of Finnish Tango A wonderful article on the history of Finnish tango by musicologist Pekka Gronow.

• Ace Here's the home page of world's leading reissue label.
• Baton The web site of a fifties R&B label.
• Bear Family Home page of the classy German reissue label.
• Collectables Although Collectables used to have a somewhat dubious reputation, the quality of their releases has improved in the later years, and the label is currently one of the major players in the reissue marketplace.
• Del-Fi The official web site of the small company famous for the hits by Ritchie Valens, Johnny Crawford, etc.
• Fame Home page of the legendary Fame studios; information on many of the artists who recorded there.
• Fortune A web site dedicated to the legendary 50s-60s Detroit label. Ron Murphy's classic article on the label is also available on the Soulful Detroit web site.
• Golden World / Ric Tic The story of a legendary sixties soul label (from Soulful Detroit.com).
• Jamie/Guyden The official web site of a Philadelphia label famous for the hits by Duane Eddy, Barbara Lynn and many others.
• Malaco Since the eighties Malaco has been the most successful company concentrating on contemporary recordings of traditional soul, rhythm & blues and gospel music.
• Okeh A British web page dedicated to the legendary record label and its' sixties Chicago soul releases.
• Ram Bam The web site of a small Finnish label, which has released albums by Groovy Eyes, Tiny Tones and Jo Buddy.
• Rhino Rhino has a large catalogue of great releases.
• Rounder Includes track listings and lots of information on all numerous Rounder releases.
• Stax This French Stax site contains lots of information, including complete discographies of Stax and its' subsidiaries.
• Sundazed Another reissue label with many interesting releases.
• Tico "Mambo Gee Gee - the Story of George Goldner and Tico Records". (from the Spectropop web site)
• Vee Jay The Vee Jay Story and album discography from Mike Callahan's Both Sides Now web site.

• ASCAP You can search information from ASCAP's database, which contains millions of songs.
• BMI Similar to above. This is one of the greatest online recources that I know of!
• Arc Music Group The catalogues represented by this firm include many of the 50's-60's hits from the Chess and Vee Jay labels.

• Steve Alaimo. An overview of Alaimo's career as a recording artist and producer.
• Baby Jane & the Rockabyes The story of an early-sixties girl group (by John Clemente, from the Spectropop web site).
• Band The former backing group of Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan has a good home page, too.
• Bar-Kays A very informative page created by Maria Granditsky.
• Fontella Bass An excerpt from Cheryl Andryco's video production thesis.
• Beatles It seems that this well-known Liverpool group has found themselves a home on the Web (in fact, they have several of them).
• Richard Berry Although the song Louie Louie will remain Richard Berry's main claim to fame, he was also a profilic R&B artist.
• Bon-Aires Home page of an early-sixties doowop group that didn't have any hits but still produced a couple of enjoyable 45s.
• Bonnie & the Treasures. Contains several articles from Mick Patrick's classic Philately magazine. (From the Spectropop web site).
• Pat Boone Pat Boone isn't one of my favorite artists, but this interview (from the Austin Chronicle) is a lot of fun!
• James Brown This page is a part of a larger site, www.funky-stuff.com.

• Clarence Carter The official Clarence Carter web site.
• Mel Carter The official Mel Carter site.
• Cascades. An article on the excellent 60s soft-pop group most famous for their 1963 smash hit "Rhythm of the Rain".
• Gene Chandler The official Gene Chandler web site.
• Ray Charles A very good official site; includes a long autobiographical article about his early years.
• Otis Clay A very interesting interview by Makoto Takahashi.
• Patsy Cline Beautiful web site dedicated to the late songstress.
• Coasters An excellent and very informative web site dedicated to the legendary vocal group. There's also another Coasters site, which contains the memoirs of Carl Gardner, the original lead singer of the group.
• Sam Cooke This is probably the best Sam Cooke site, but there's also another one, which includes a lively Sam Cooke web board populated by many fanatic Cooke fans.
• Spencer Davis Group An official site for this British sixties R&B group.
• Dells The official home page of a legendary vocal group that has been recording great music for nearly fifty years.
• Bo Diddley This site contains a Diddley biography, discography and a tribute to Lady Bo, among other things.

• Everly Brothers The Everly Brothers International Info Circle.
• Four Fellows The web site of a fifties vocal group, created by group member (and historian) Jim McGowan.

• Groovy Eyes Groovy Eyes is a Finnish band with an authentic 1950s R&B and rock & roll sound. They have recorded two excellent CDs and are an excellent live act. Highly recommended!

• All-Music Guide A searchable database that mostly concentrates on album discographies, but there are also biographical articles on most of the major artists. All Music Guide is not perfect or free of errors, but it's still a very useful source of information.
• Cash Box Top Singles This site contains the complete Cash Box singles charts from 1952-1982.
• Record Collecting Resources A huge collection of links to relevant sites; maintained by T.P. Uschanov. [NOTE: I haven't included any dealers' pages in my link collection, since you can find them all on this page!]
• Ramin musiikkisivut In Finnish. Among other things, there's a useful list of Finnish second hand record shops.
• A Child's Garden of Record Labels Compiled by Brian D. Phillips.
• Both Sides Now Stereo Newsletter Mike Callahan's newsletter reviews the sound quality of current Oldies reissues. This site also contains a large number of 50s and 60s LP discographies from various American record labels.

• rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1950s Discussion on the popular music of the 1950s (especially doowop). Lots of knowledgeable people here!
• rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1960s Discussion on the popular music of the 1960s.
• rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1970s Discussion on the popular music of the 1970s.
• alt.music.soul The Usenet soul discussion group; not as good as the following mailing list, though.
• Southern Soul mailing list The list is a great source of information. The regular contributors include many Memphis/Muscle Shoals musicians, artists and producers.
• Soulful Detroit Discussion Forum Lots of interesting discussions - and not only about the Detroit scene.
• BLUES-L mailing list (bit.listserv.blues-l) This is basically a mailing list that you can also read through a newsgroup mirror. If you prefer receiving 50-100 messages a day to your own private mailbox, you can join the list by filling a form.
• Rockin' Records mailing list Mainly concentrates on discographies of rockabilly, country & western, doowop and r&b artists/record companies.
• Spectropop An e-mail discussion list "about Phil Spector, Brill Building, Girl Groups, West Coast, British Invasion and topics generally related to pop music of the pre-Woodstock 1960's". Very civilized atmosphere, lots of knowledgeable people, highly recommended! Spectropop also has an extensive web site.

• Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz This web site contains all GOLQs since the beginning of the quiz in 1990. You can find other music-related quizzes in the newsgroup rec.games.trivia.
