Kesäharjoittelupaikkoja opiskelijoille 2012

HIPin Planck-satelliittiprojektissa on avoinna kesäharjoittelupaikka fysiikan ja teoreettisen fysiikan opiskelijoille kesäksi 2012. Palkkaus olisi kolmeksi kuukaudeksi ja ajoittuisi touko-elokuulle tarkemmin sovittavaksi ajaksi. Harjoittelupaikat sopivat kolme vuotta tai enemmän opiskelleille Helsingin yliopiston perusopiskelijoille. Harjoittelu liittyy Planck- tai Euclid-satelliitin datan analyysimenetelmiin, kosmisen taustasäteilyn tai pimeän energian fysiikkaan ja/tai näihin kytköksissä olevaan kosmologiaan. Harjoittelu sisältää tähän aihepiiriin perehtymistä ja tehtäviä opiskelijan valmiustasosta riippuen. Harjoittelu voi sisältää aihepiiriin liittyvän LuK-tutkielman tai gradun tekemisen. Hakijoilta edellytetään hyvää opintomenestystä. Hyvät tietotekniikkavalmiudet (esim. Unix, Fortran, C, Matlab), Kosmologian (I ja/tai II) ja Yleisen suhteellisuusteorian kurssien (tai jokin näistä) suorittaminen ovat eduksi, mutta eivät välttämättömiä, jos hakijalla on valmius oppia näitä asioita harjoittelun aikana. Summer student positions 2012

The HIP Planck project has open a paid summer student position for University of Helsinki physics and theoretical physics students. The position is for three months in May-August (the exact dates to be agreed) and is suitable for students who have studied for three years or more. The work is related to data analysis for the Planck and Euclid satellites, physics of the cosmic microwave background and dark energy, and related cosmology. The work involves study of some of these topics, and related tasks suitable for the student's level. Working on a Bachelor's or Master's thesis can be included. A good study record and computer skills (Unix, Fortran, C, Matlab) are a plus. It would be good if the student has taken at least some of the courses Cosmology I, Cosmology II, and General Relativity.
