Planck Satellite Status Report Abstract The European Space Agency Planck satellite to observe the cosmic microwave background was launched in May 2009 and made science observations from August 2009 to October 2013. Finland had a significant role in building the instruments for Planck and analyzing its data, and the latter role is still continuing. The main results from the mission have been published in two data releases, in 2013 and 2015, and a final data release is expected by end of 2016. Planck results agree with the standard model of cosmology, LambdaCDM, with high precision, fixing its parameters to about 1 per cent accuracy. To the disappointment of many theorists, no evidence for extensions to the standard model were found, and upper limits to many suggested extensions were tightened significantly. Many suble effects predicted by the standard model were detected for the first time by Planck.
