Intellectual Heritage of the Ancient Near East

Ilkka Lindstedt

Ilkka Lindstedt is interested in early Arabic historiography (8th and 9th centuries), and in its character and transmission in particular. His doctoral dissertation will deal with the relatively early historian al-Mada’ini (d. 840s) and trace how his corpus of historical information – now
lost to us in the original – was transmitted and transmuted by his students and
redactors.
