VOKKE-projectNational-Level Coordination Project of Degree Programme Development in Teacher Training and the Sciences of Education (Vokke) The Faculty of Behavioural Sciences at the University of Helsinki is responsible for the national-level coordination of degree programme development in education and teacher training. A very important task is the co-operative development of a two-tier system and ECTS-system based on the Bologna Process. Degree programmes will be developed for all academic teacher training given at the Finnish universities: for kindergarten, class and subject teachers, as well as for early childhood education, education and adult education. The Vokke Project was launched in March 2003 and the project will last until the end of 2006. All Finnish Universities are co-operating in this project under the National Steering Group headed by professor Hannele Niemi, the Vice Rector of the University of Helsinki. Experiences are shared in symposiums, workshops and in teams. The project is financed by the Ministry of Education. The budget in 2004 is 210,000 euros.
