Activities

The Doctoral Programme organises various activities throughout the year. These activities consist of two main things: Doctoral Programme days and theme-specific seminars. The Doctoral Programme days are a forum for checking up and reporting on the progress of dissertation writing. They also provide the doctoral students a forum where they can present their on-going scholarly work (article manuscripts, research plans, conference presentations) and get feedback from senior researchers, members of the Board and other doctoral students. In addition, various speakers representing various disciplines are invited to lecture on topics of interest in the field of Russian and East European studies.

The seminars on theory and methodology include in-depth lectures and workshops supervised by experts in the field. Held twice a year, these seminars supplement the theoretical and methodological instruction provided by the doctoral students' home departments with a perspective specifically on Russia and Eastern Europe.

Moreover, the Doctoral Programme for Russian and East European Studies organises seminars and other activities in collaboration with other programmes and university departments. It also organises and funds joint seminars together with its international partners. These include the international graduate training courses funded by NordForsk.

The Doctoral Programme's Board draws up the framework of the programme for four years at a time. A more detailed programme for each year is drawn up in cooperation with the Executive Board, the Director of the Doctoral Programme, the Head of Research Training and the doctoral students. For more information about the activities, see Programme of this year .
