Sociopragmatic processes

Socio-pragmatics investigates meaning in interaction, as negotiated between interlocutors and text participants. This branch has close connections with sociolinguistics as it combines detailed socio-historically anchored data with assessments of linguistic features, e.g. in constructing identities in negotiations of social and professional roles in various situations.
