Grammaticalisation

The team investigating grammaticalisation processes concentrates on such core areas as clause-combining devices, reference systems and auxiliaries. As the new forms appearing in the category of connectives in particular are often borrowed, or contain borrowed elements, language contact is an important and often complicating factor in the description and analysis of the paths of grammaticalisation.
