My research
My MSc research concerns carabid beetle (Coleoptera: Carabidae) assemblages of dry meadow habitats in the Helsinki Metropolitan area (Helsinki, Vantaa and Espoo).
Semi-natural grasslands have a high conservation value, and have been treated as a priority issue at the European level for a long time. In Finland, 80% of the threatened species of agricultural habitats occur in meadow habitats. Furthermore, in most of Europe, meadows have the highest vascular plant species richness. In terms of insect, carabid beetles in dry meadows are more species richness than in forest habitats.
Since 2009 I collected carabid beetles in meadow habitats of different disturbance and management levels in the greater Helsinki area.
