In the paw steps of the king of the forest
Finnish bear populations are expanding back to their original habitats. They are extremely shy of humans and in their element in the wilderness – quite unlike the city bears of the United States. Carnivores, they are still hated and feared even in Finland. Research is looking for ways to help people and bears live side by side.

On land, sea and air
Most academics work in libraries, laboratories or at a computer. But not all. Science may take the researcher to most unusual places.
