Welcome

A theatrical work of art is a fleeting event. A researcher who studies the event must have expertise based on experience, wide ranging knowledge and skills. Students of Theatre Research are trained to analyze and interpret performances through studying contemporary productions and exploring the traces of past performances.

The scope of Theatre Research is broad. It focuses on scenic arts, forms of representation, drama, and theatre as a part of society. In the course of her studies the student will become familiar with different components of the art form such as direction, acting, characterisation and the history of staging and drama, as well as with theory and research methodologies. Other mediums closely associated with theatre such as radio and television can also be focused on. The general focus is, however, on the dramatic arts, including dance and musical theatre.
