Course offerings to visiting students
We offer high-quality lecture-based courses in English in all our disciplines. Students can also complete more extensive study modules entirely in English. For more information, see our English-language Study Guide (PDF).
There are no fees for individual courses, but the accepted have to become members of the Student Union of the University, and the membership is compulsory. The membership fee in the academic year 2012-2013 is €92 for undergraduate students, and for postgraduate students €48.
Who can apply?
The Faculty of Theology offers Visiting Student status at the undergraduate and postgraduate level to students enrolled and actively studying at a university outside Finland. The prerequisite is that the students are able to transfer any credits completed at the University of Helsinki to the degree programme at their home institution.
Visiting Student status is usually granted for the maximum of one year at a time. During the period of visiting student studies the student cannot graduate from the Faculty.
How to apply?
You should start by contacting your home university’s Inter-national Affairs Coordinator. You can then write an application and send it to the Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki.
Students applying for Visiting Student status must include a statement on credit transfer (crediting) from their home institution. Visiting students cannot graduate from the University of Helsinki.
The Visiting Student status is not meant for students studying for a degree in a Finnish university or polytechnic. Students studying for a degree in a Finnish University ought to apply using the JOO-agreement instead.
