studies image The Faculty of Theology has received several awards for its teaching and for the development of it, in which the students have also their own and active representation. Teachers provide top level teaching based on research. The Faculty offers inspiring environment for studies thanks to its' unique research in Religion covering many point of views and rich expertise of the teachers.  The University itself offers world-class facilities, such as modern libraries and computer labs.

Please note that the Helsinki Summer School, cooperatively operated by nine universities in the Helsinki region, also offers English-language theology courses each year.

English-language studies in the Master and Doctor of Theology programmes and for exchange students

International students can complete a Master of Theology degree or a postgraduate (Licentiate or doctoral) degree in the Faculty of Theology. The Faculty also offers excellent study opportunities for exchange students and visiting students.  
Courses designed for international students are primarily taught in English, but can also be completed in Swedish. In addition, Faculty students can complete studies in other University of Helsinki faculties under certain conditions.

Master’s degree programme in the Religious Roots of Europe

The Faculty launches its first international Master’s programme in autumn 2009: The Religious Roots of Europe (RRE). This programme will be implemented with five other Nordic universities.

The University of Helsinki is a member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU) which consists of Europe’s leading research universities. The University and the Faculty of Theology offer their students top-level teaching based on research.
