Teams

The unit is divided into four teams: The ancient philosophy team, the medieval philosophy team, the Renaissance and Reformation team, and the early modern ethics and politics team. Each research team has senior researchers as well as post-doctoral fellows and doctoral students.

The division of labour can be described as follows. The ancient philosophy team focuses on classical and hellenistic Greek and Latin philosophy until the time of Boethius and Simplicius. The medieval team has two foci: Latin scholastic philosophy and medieval Arabic philosophy. Whereas the early modern ethics and politics team focuses on political and social philosophy,
the Renaissance and Reformation team focuses on the transformation of moral philosophy in the predominantly humanist and educational traditions of the Renaissance and the Reformation.
