Finland is part of the Schengen area, together with Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

Flight connections to Helsinki are excellent from all parts of Europe. Both Finnair and SAS / Blue1 have regular flights to Helsinki from all major cities in Europe, as well as from many overseas destinations. In addition, 25 other airlines fly regularly to the Finnish capital.  There are altogether 145 international arrivals per day.  Helsinki is also easily reached by boat from Stockholm, Rostock, Travemünde and Tallinn, and by train from Moscow and St. Petersburg.
