The Finnish Graduate School of Theology is a network organisation of three universities:
University of Helsinki, University of Eastern Finland and Åbo Akademi University. The University of Helsinki has the coordinating responsibility of the Graduate School.
The Faculty of Theology at the University of Helsinki has provided higher education in theology since the establishment of the University in 1640. Today it is among the largest theological faculties in the world.
The Faculty of Theology at the University of Joensuu was established in 2002. In 2010, it was connected to the Philosophical Faculty when the University of Eastern Finland was established. It offers two degree programmes: Western Theology and Orthodox Theology.
The Faculty of Theology at the Åbo Akademi University was established in 1924. It is the only theological faculty in Finland where education is given in Swedish.
