Pisa Results

What is PISA?
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) surveys the skills of 15-year-olds in the fields of literacy, mathematics and natural sciences every three years. The focus of the first part of the survey (PISA 2000) was reading literacy, the second part (PISA 2003) focused on mathematical literacy and the PISA 2006 evaluated scientific literacy. In 2012 the focus was on mathematics.

In Finland, the sample for the PISA 2012 assessment was collected from 311 schools and 10,157 students were randomly selected from these schools for the survey. Altogether 90% of the sample students took part in the PISA assessment.

The survey was carried out by the Finnish Institute for Educational Research of the University of Jyväskylä. The results were published on 3 December 2013.
