University Consortia

The University of Helsinki coordinates the University Consortiums of Lahti and Mikkeli. Their coordination units belong administratively to the sector of Strategic Planning and Quality Assurance.
The Lahti University Consortium
The Lahti University Consortium is a network university that was established by four Finnish universities and that offers services provided by departments of these universities. The Lahti University Consortium brings together the knowledge base of Lahti’s trade and industry, the profound expertise in the Päijät-Häme region and the firm scientific expertise of the parent universities.

The Mikkeli University Consortium
The Mikkeli University Consortium is a networked academic community focused
on scientific research, university teaching and community relations. Of key
importance for the MUC is the practical application of research results
through development projects and adult education. The Mikkeli University
Consortium (MUC) conducts research and teaching that promote sustainable
development and entrepreneurship, and produces solutions and operational
models that support regional development. The MUC’s community relations,
education and research are based on close cooperation with its parent
universities, regional associates and local businesses.
The MUC emphasises research in disciplines which cater to the development
needs of the regional economy while remaining internationally competitive
and nationally specialised. The Mikkeli University Consortium also maintains
a scientific library available to all.
