Prospective participants should fill out an online application form found on the leftt of this page by the 11May 2012 at the latest.

Due to increased interest in the summer seminar and in order to allow as many applications to be submitted that original deadline for applications has been extended to 28 May 2012

A complete application will consist of:

  • Personal details;
  • A Curriculum Vitae;
  • A brief description of research interests (max. 500 words);
  • An indication as to which of the three lines of inquiry the participants wishes to write a paper for;
  • A short paper proposal (max. 500 words).

The cost of the seminar is 120 € for students and PhD candidates and 200€ for professionals including registration and tuition. Students accepted to the new two year Master's Degree Programme 2011-2013 or 2012-2014 of the University of Helsinki/Faculty of Law can attend the seminar free of charge. The tuition fee does not cover accommodation, travelling tickets, coffee or meals. For excursions, there will be a small participation fee. Excursions can be paid only by cash at the reception desk in Helsinki.

Application Decisions will be announced 01 June 2012

Successful applicants are expected to submit their papers for the writing workshops by the 31st July 2012.”

Kindly note that if you are not a citizen of an EU/EEA country, you may be required to present a visa. More information about the visa requirement in the Schengen area can be found at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs web page

Should you need an invitation letter to your visa application, please fill in a Helsinki Summer Seminar background information form.

Please note that this form should be filled in only by those applicants who will require an invitation letter to their visa application. Incomplete visa applications will not be processed.
