TopeliaComparative religion is a subject shared by the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Theology with teachers, researchers and students representing both faculties. The research carried out in the discipline covers various religious phenomena and traditions, including rituals, beliefs, texts and institutions. Currently, the research covers such topics as monastic practices and pilgrimage, Islam in Europe, new religious movements and practices, religion and gender and the relationship between religion and current ethical and social questions, including the environment, genetic engineering and abortion. The research also discusses methodological and theoretical questions. In addition, biological and evolutionary psychological factors are also among topics of interest for researchers in the field.

The discipline of comparative religion currently employs over twenty experts and teachers. There are over one hundred undergraduate students and approximately fifty postgraduate students.
