University sports services
Excellent facilities
University sport services, or Yliopistoliikunta in Finnish, offers full range sports services to students and University staff. There are sports and excercise facilities in all the four campuses (City Centre, Kumpula, Meilahti, and Viikki) available from early morning until late evening. Facilities range from gyms, group training rooms and squash courts to climbing walls and ball sports halls. The types of sport and activities range from aerobics to yoga, from afro to oriental dance, from fitness testing to massage, from boxing to stretching, from feelgood fitness to Pilates, not to mention ball sports and outdoor exercises – i.e. over 80 ways to move yourself and keep fit.
Low prices
All this does not cost much: with under 90 euro a year – at the lowest – you get unlimited access to the gyms, group training classes and all halls. Additional payments are required for courses, tournaments, massage and fitness testing or programmes. You can also use services by paying a one-time fee on each visit. Students who pay the university sports fee receive discounts at some non-university sport facilities such as public swimming pools.
