Summer studies

The University of Helsinki has no summer term. Some faculties and departments, however, arrange examinations in the summer. There are also other options to study in the summer.

Helsinki Summer School

An international summer university, Helsinki Summer School, is hosted by the University of Helsinki. It offers courses by various universities in the Helsinki region. Helsinki Summer School's courses are multidisciplinary and designed for university and college students from all over the world. The language of study is English and the credits are transferable.

Helsinki Summer University

Helsinki Summer University is maintained by a foundation set up by the local municipalities, the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen, and the University of Helsinki. It offers open-enrolment courses mostly in the summertime. Even if most courses are taught in Finnish or Swedish, there is also a reasonable amount of courses for international students, e.g. Finnish for Foreigners (arranged since 1966), Swedish for Foreigners, further education courses, and many others.

Open University

The Open University provides anyone an opportunity to study university studies, regardless of age or educational background. The Open University offers the latest information for maintaining professional skills, support for launching a new career, the possibility to explore different disciplines and the joy of learning.
