Courses in English
The courses taught in English at the University have been collected on the Courses in English website. Please note that even if there are may be many courses and a lot of textbooks in English in certain majors, in undergraduate studies you will need proficiency in Finnish or Swedish.
Important note on undergraduate studies at UH
The University of Helsinki does not offer any undergraduate majors or degree programmes in English. Only the domestic languages, Finnish and Swedish, can be used in undergraduate studies. Also the entrance examinations, which the applicants have to pass to be admitted into undergraduate studies, are arranged in Finnish and Swedish only.
The only exception is the English Philology programme: it has an entrance examination in English and studies can be conducted fully in English. In addition, such foreign language majors as French, German, Italian, and Spanish make a special group. Besides proficiency in the target language, applicants to these majors need to have communication skills in Finnish, Swedish or English. In Russian language communication skills in Finnish or Swedish are needed.
