Application for office space in the Faculty of Social Sciences
Resources permitting, the Faculty may grant office space to other researchers beside those with an employment contract to the University. This is done based on a separate application, where the applicant must present a justification for the office space (postgraduate studies, research etc.) The office space is granted primarily for the duration of the research project (e.g., visit, funding period), but is reviewed twice a year. A positive decision is on the condition that postgraduate students defend their doctoral dissertation in one of the disciplines of the Faculty, and that researchers report their publications under the name of the Faculty in the TUHAT research database.
When the applications are reviewed, people whose grants the unit has committed to already at the application stage, are given priority. Typically these are people with international mobility grants, University of Helsinki grants, or grants which include an overhead, as well as people who are employed on a permanent contract to the unit but are on research leave with a grant.
In addition to the above-mentioned considerations, the duration of the project will be taken into account when prioritizing the applications.
For more information, please contact the Department Office Manager in your Department or the Faculty Head of Finances.
Please fill in the e-form application:
The application must be sent November 15, 2011, at the latest. Please append the funding decision. You can either attach it to this form as a scanned pdf-file or mail or bring a paper copy to the Department Office.
The Department will compile a summary of the applications, which is then sent to the discipline for a statement. The aim is to notify the applicants of the decision in a month from the application deadline.
N.B. Teaching and supervising by researchers without an employment contract to the University will be compensated according to a separate contract (employment contract for a part-time teacher or fee agreement). The office space needed for teaching and supervision will be agreed upon when the contract is made.
