Welcome to the Department of Social Research!

The Department of Social Research is a multidisciplinary unit comprising seven disciplines: social and cultural anthropology, social and public policy, social psychology, social work, sociology, statistics, media and communication studies.
The Department is the largest unit of its kind in Finland, and a national leader in both research and education. The Department employs approximately 200 people, of whom 30 are professors and 27 are university lecturers. In addition, there are several grant-funded doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers working at the Department. On average, 200 Bachelor’s, 180 Master's and 26 doctoral degrees are completed at the Department annually.
