Welcome to the homepage of Book Culture from Below – The Eighteenth Annual Conference of the Society for the History of Authorship, Reading and Publishing (SHARP). The conference took place in Helsinki, 17-20 August 2010.
Program
The program of the conference and the abstracts of the presentations are presented at Scientific Program.
The conference was pleased to present two keynote speakers:
- Professor Martyn Lyons (University of New South Wales)
- Professor Ruth B. Bottigheimer (Stony Brook University, New York)
The conference also included three panel discussions on the main theme Book Culture from Below:
- Conceptual re-evaluations from below
- Exposing the oral and literary background of fairy tales
- How the aspect “from below” changes book history

Prof. Bottigheimer's keynote lecture and the three panel discussions were webcast. The webcasts were not recorded for later viewing.
