Career prospects

Semiotics offers specific analytical skills needed today in different fields where signification, communication and interpretation are central issues.

The programme offers students the possibility to develop either a research or job-market oriented profile through the selection of optional courses and of the dissertation topic. For research oriented students, post-graduate studies in Finland and abroad is the main orientation, whereas students having a job-market oriented profile can successfully look for careers in media, public relations and advertisement companies, IT technology, consultancy, as well as diverse sectors in public administration. As international cooperation is a key element in the programme, students acquire as part of their studies valuable experience working in multi- and intercultural environments.
