Welcome to the ViSci homepages!
Visual Science Group investigates human visual information processing using fMRI
technique and methods of psychophysics (detection & discrimination thresholds,
reaction times and classification images) - combined with computational modelling.
Research topics include brightness processing, form vision, and the coordination of
hand movements by vision. Our recent international peer-reviewed publications are
concerned with the neural & perceptual interactions at the early processing levels
of the visual system, the neural mechanisms by which local stimulus features are
integrated into a perceived global form, and the planning and control of goal-directed
hand movements based on visual information.
For more detailed information of the research activities,
see our publications.
Members of the visual science group are supported by grants from
Academy of Finland,
Finnish Graduate School of Psychology and
University of Helsinki.
