Bus Connections to the Viikki Campus
The 79 bus is
the only one that makes the loop past the Cubile and it does not go to
downtown Helsinki. It does connect with the Metro (Siilitie or
Herttoniemi stations) that will take you to the center quickly (9
minutes from Herttoniemi to the Kaisaniemi station or 11 minutes from
Siilitie). Beware: the 79V bus also
leaves from the Herttoniemi Metro station but does not go by the Cubile
(it will get you within walking distance though). The 79 bus now runs on
Saturday and on Sunday there is now a 79A bus that
runs between Latokartano and the Siilitie Metro station. After the last 79
bus in the evening, you will have to take a 74 or a 76 bus which
leaves from Rautatientori (Railway Station Square) bus terminal and has
a stop about 500 meters from the Cubile (Latokartano, red + on the map).
You can, of course, take the 74 or 76 on weekdays (you can even take the
79 westbound from the cubile to connect), but the 79 to the Metro is
faster. There are other buses that go near the Viikki
Campus but have stops on the other side of the Helsinki-Lahti
motorway.
