Louvain workshop - Practical information

Dear participants,
1. Location of Louvain-la-Neuve
Louvain-la-Neuve is situated about 30 km south east from the centre of Brussels. It's near Wavre and Ottignies. Louvain-la-Neuve is easy to reach by train from Bruxelles centre or from the airport (= Zavetem). Be careful, don't confuse Louvain-la-Neuve and Louvain (= Leuven in Dutch).
2. How to get Louvain-la-Neuve
- Coming from the airport (= Zaventem) : you have first to reach Brussels (railway station = Gare Bruxelles-Nord)
Every days, there are regular train services from the Airport to Brussels (4 trains an hour from 9:00 till 24:00). In the « Gare Bruxelles-Nord », we'll have a change of trains to get Louvain-la-Neuve.
A taxi from the Airport (=Zaventem) to Louvain-la-Neuve costs about 2.300 BEF. By train, it will cost you about 190 BEF.
- Coming from Brussels : it takes about half an hour.
There are regular train services directly from Brussels with sometimes a change of trains in Ottignies (a little rail station).

3. How to get the Hotel « Le Relais »
Once in Louvain-la-Neuve, « Le Relais » (6, rue de la Gare, 1348 Louvain-la-Neuve) is 3 min walk from the railway station. The Hotel is very near to the « Place de l'Université ». You can see the hotel from the railway station. Michel and Gwénaëlle will meet you at « Le Relais » from 19:00 to 20:00 on 7 th January and on 11th January.
Price : depending of the room, the prises varies from 1500 BEF to 2000 BEF. You 'll have to make your payements directly at the hotel during the opening of the reception of the hotel.

4. Meals
- Breakfast
« Le Relais » offers a copious breakfast included in the hotel-room price.
- Lunch
during the « GIS course » (8-9-10-11 January)
Lunches (which are included in the fees - remember, a little financial contribution is required = 125 EURO/participant) will be served at the restaurant « La Sablonnière » or « la Fleur de Sel ».
during the « open meeting » (12-13 January)
You will have to provide your own lunch. This can easily be done in Louvain-la-Neuve, where you can choose from a variety of sandwiches to tasteful restaurants, all at a short walk from the workshop's venue.
- Dinner
During the whole workshop, you will have to provide your own dinner.

6. Other information
The workshop-room will be equiped with a videoprojector, an overhead projector and a slide projector.
Each day, the workshop will begin at 9h00 am and shall end at about 17:30 pm.
