| Objective |
The purpose of the study model is that after completing the course on co-operatives and sustainable development, the students will be able to acquire basic knowledge about sustainable development and the way co-operatives respond to the questions of sustainable development. The course will familiarize the students with the concepts, basics and history of sustainable development as well as the connections to the global and Finnish co-operative enterprises.

| Content |
The concepts, basics and history of sustainable development as well as the connections to the global co-operative organizations and the Finnish large and small -scale co-operative enterprises are covered by the course. Additionally a comparison picture of the co-operative operational mode, the challenges and solutions from the point of view of sustainable development in Finland and in developing countries are presented by the course. The key issues in connection to sustainable development deal with for example the role of co-operatives in poverty alleviation and peace-building in developing countries.
