General Description

The Research Master´s Degree Programme in Social Sciences (REMS) is organised jointly by three disciplines of the Department of Social Research, Faculty of Social Sciences: Social and Public Policy, Social Psychology and Sociology.

It is a full-time, two-year integrated study programme. The programme consists of minimum of 120 credits, equalling 120 ECTS points. Upon successful completion of the programme the graduate will be awarded the Master of Social Sciences degree (M.Soc.Sc.).

The REMS Programme provides the students with profound skills in both quantitative and qualitative social research methods, as well as knowledge on classical and contemporary theories in social sciences.

When applying to the programme, the students choose their major subject. The options are:

  • Social and Public Policy/Urban Studies
  • Social Psychology
  • Sociology

The intake to the REMS Programme is maximum 14 new international students per annum.

The entire programme is held in English language. The students participating the Programme may take only 25 % (30 credits) of the compulsory studies in other than English language.

The application period for Autumn 2012 has ended. The next one for 2013 starts in mid-November 2012and ends on 31 Jan. 2013. The new admission requirements will be updated by mid-November.
