Self-evaluation
The faculties and departments regularly evaluate their own teaching activities against the common goals and development challenges of the University community. Evaluation is part of the University's operations management process, in addition to which the University has a separate tool for self-evaluation, the Teaching Evaluation Matrix (.pdf).
The Teaching Evaluation Matrix investigates teaching and its planning, implementation and evaluation as comprehensively as possible from the point of view of the entire faculty or department. Each aspect of teaching is considered in the light of a four-level framework, which sums up the spectrum of quality from passable to excellent. The definitions of quality are based on the University’s Strategic Plan and the Programme for the Development of Teaching and Studies.
The faculties and departments decide independently on the implementation of their self-evaluation. The University has issued separate instructions for the practical implementation of self-evaluation on the basis of the Teaching Evaluation Matrix: Using the Teaching Evaluation Matrix in departmental self-assessment (.pdf) The Matrix will also be used in the selection of centres of excellence in teaching at the University.
