Quality Assurance Organisation

The Rector is responsible for the quality of the activities of the whole University. The quality assurance steering group (LAAVA), appointed by the Rector, coordinates and plans the quality assurance system of the University in its entirety. Vice-Rector Ulla-Maija Forsberg acts as the chairman of the group.

The group is made up of representatives for researchers, teachers, other staff members and students. In addition to that, the group includes experts from different University sectors. The steering group supervises and guides the quality assurance process, prepares process-related guidelines for the University operational units and coordinates quality documentation.

The Quality Manager is responsible for the quality assurance system to follow the given guidelines and for the sufficiency of documentation. He also ensures that the quality assurance mechanisms are used appropriately to cover all the units and activities. The University Quality Expert and experts from other operational sectors support the Quality Manager at the Administration Office. Similarly the contact persons in the faculties and independent institutes see to these matters in their own organisations.
