Professor of the Year in 2009

The Finnish Union of University Professors honoured professor Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen by selecting her as the Professor of the Year 2008 in 9 December 2009.

J.V. Snellman -award of the University of Helsinki 2008

University of Helsinki honoured professor Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen with J.V. Snellman prize in 26.3.2008.

Award of the University of Helsinki for creditable doctoral thesis 2008

University of Helsinki honoured Ph.D. Markus Jokela with a prize for especially creditable doctoral thesis (dissertation in 2007) in 26.3.2008.

Philips Nordic Prize for research within Neurodevelopmental Disorders 2007

Philips honoured professor Risto Näätänen and professor Teija Kujala with Philips Nordic Prize for research within Neurodevelopmental Disorders in December, 2007.

Sokrates-prize 2007

Skepsis ry, the Finnish association of skeptics, honoured Marjaana Lindeman and her research group with Socrates-prize in 5.12.2007 for promoting critical thinking.

Award of the Foundation of Finnish Advertisers 2007

Foundation of Finnish Advertisers honoured professor Göte Nyman with a prize in 6.6.2007. The aim of the foundation is to promote the research of the future-directed marketing communication.

J.V. Snellman Award of Finnish Periodical Publishers Association 2007

Finnish Periodical Publishers Association honoured professor Göte Nyman with J.V. Snellman Award in 22.5. 2007. The award is conferred every year on a person who has worked creditably for the status and the respect of the magazines.

Centre of Excellence of the Academy of Finland for 2008 - 2013

The Academy of Finland has selected Interdisciplinary Music Research unit to the national Centre of Excellence programme for 2008 - 2013. Brain and Music Team, a partner of the Interdisciplinary Music Research unit at the department, is led by Docent Mari Tervaniemi. Docent Minna Huotilainen, Doctor Elvira Brattico and several doctoral students belong to the team.

A reward of the Literature Foundation 2006

The Literature Foundation of WSOY honoured professor Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen with a reward in 2.10.2006.

National prizes for research and tuition 2006

PYRY, the cooperative organization of the Finnish Psychological Association, the Finnish Psychological Society and Finnish Psychology Students' Organization, awarded members of the stuff of the department for specially creditable research and tuition.

Academy Professor Risto Näätänen was honoured with a prize of senior research scientist for work within psychological research.

University Lecturer Hely Kalska was honoured with a prize of psychology instructor within psychological tuition.

Research Assessment Exercise 2005

The department got the highest grade (7) in the research assesment exercise in the University of Helsinki in 2005.

High quality of education award for 2006

The University of Helsinki has admitted the "High quality of education award for 2006" to the Department of Psychology.

Nordic Centre of Excellence 2005 - 2010

Attention and Memory Networks, a research group at the department, belongs to the Nordic Centres of Excellence, "Cognitive Control: Behavioural and Brain Studies of Cognitive Control in Attention, Perception, Language, Memory, and Emotion". Professor Kimmo Alho is the head of the research group. The Joint Committee for Nordic Research Councils for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NOS-HS) has selected the Nordic Centres of Excellence.

Centre of Excellence for 2002 - 2007

Cognitive Brain Research Unit coordinates the Helsinki Brain Research Centre which was nominated a Centre of Excellence for 2002 - 2007 by the Academy of Finland , involving also Helsinki University of Technology, as well as Helsinki and Uusimaa hospital district.

High quality unit in higher education -award to the network of psychology for 2004 - 2006

The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council gave the High quality unit in higher education -award to Psykonet, the network of psychology, for 2004 - 2006.

Centre of Excellence in University Education for 2001 - 2003

The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council honoured the department with a status of Centre of Excellence in University Education for 2001 - 2003.

Evaluation of the Quality of Education and the Degree Programmes 2002

International Organization of Psychophysiology 2002

International Organization of Psychophysiology honoured Academy Professor Risto Näätänen with a prize in 2002.
