The department of public law hosts the following disciplines: fiscal law, public international law, administrative law and constitutional law.
Department of Criminal Law, Judicial Procedure and General Jurisprudential Studies
At this department the following topics are taught: legal theory, legal history, law and economics, sociology of law, legal informatics, private international law and comparative law, European law criminal law, procedural law, medical and bio law, feminist jurisprudence.
Department of Private Law
The department of private law offers the following disciplines: property law, commercial law, family and inheritance law, law of obligations, labour law, and land, water and environmental law.
The Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights
The Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights was established in 1998 within the confines of the Faculty of Law to provide a centre for research and study in its field of activities.
The Institute of International Economic Law
The Institute of International Economic Law is a specialized research institute associated with the Faculty of Law of the University of Helsinki. The Institute was established in 1991, in anticipation of Finland's entry into the European integration process.
Vaasa Unit of Legal Studies
Since 1991 the Faculty of Law at University of Helsinki has maintained a bilingual program of legal study in Vaasa in cooperation with the University of Vaasa and the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration (Hanken)
