Centre of Excellence in Foundations of European Law Research is financed by the Academy of Finland. Based at the University of Helsinki, the Centre has around 35 members from different substantive areas of law, political science and history. The Centre collaborates with several international and domestic co-operation institutes.
University of Helsinki, Faculty of Law, Centre of Excellence in Foundations of European Law Research invites applications for
1 – 3 Post-doctoral researchers
The period of appointment is 1 – 2 years beginning 1st April 2010 (negotiable).
Job description. The main task of post-doctoral researchers is conducting their own research and contributing to the Centre’s scientific progress. In addition to research, the appointments may include teaching (max. 5% of working time).
Salary for the posts is based on the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities, demand level 5 - 7. The appointee will also be paid a salary component based on personal work performance which will be, at most, 46 % of the job-specific
component.
The positions are located at the Institute of International Economic Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Helsinki.

Qualifications. A successful candidate has defended her/his thesis no longer than five years ago on a topic compatible with the Centre’s field of research and is capable of conducting independent research.
Language skills. The Centre’s working language is English. No Finnish skills are required.
The research plan should describe the subject and approach of the applicant's research. The plan will cover the theme, aims, and methods of the applicant’s research. The plan should be linked to the Centre’s research plan.
