THE KLUBI OF THE NORTH AMERICAN STUDIES PROGRAM
The Klubi (a.k.a. the Advanced Seminar on North American Studies) brings together experts from many walks of life with faculty, students, and visiting scholars interested in American and Canadian issues.
The Klubi was established by the first Bicentennial Professor of the program, Robert M. Crunden, during his stay in Helsinki in 1976-1977. Over the years the Klubi has become an important discussion forum for all scholars and students interested in North American studies in Finland.
During its long history the Klubi has hosted several well-known authors, historians, and political scientists (some of them Pulitzer Prize winners), including Margaret Atwood, William Chafe, Henry Steel Commager, Michael Kammen, Leon Litwack, N.Scott Momaday and Alfred W. Crosby.
