New appearance – new content

The University of Helsinki has refreshed its visual image and launched the new website.

New visual imageA focal point in the new visual image is the flame logo, designed in the early 1990s. The main colours in the updated logo are dark blue and silver. The blue and silver logo will be the common emblem for the whole University, used by all of its units. One common emblem helps create a streamlined image, carrying the message that co-operation partners can expect the same, high-quality service and operations from all the University of Helsinki units.

In conjunction with updating the visual image, the University website has acquired a new appearance and content, with a number of new, regularly updated sections. The Swedish and English-language sections have also been improved and extended to serve a wider audience.

The website now includes, for example, a channel directed at the public entitled Science & Research at, while University in Brief at will feature a monthly column written by various interesting figures at the University. The first columnist is Chancellor Kari Raivio, who has taken a critical view on the vagueness of educational markets and new degree titles.
